Quick Start FAQ

Post by VeloReality Video »

Going to list here a few points that can get you up & running for those like me that never read the manual ;)

1: Place the v_ride.x64.exe that you downloaded onto a separate partition or external USB3 hard drive!

2: Download & copy all the ride wmv files to a folder on the same drive as the exe (name it with any name you want - for example Video) (This will save you some hassle later on if you like the software & start to build a ride collection. The rides will be licensed to the hard drive the exe is placed on. This will mean your software & rides are completely separate from your OS as all great software should be, it will enable you to upgrade your PC or OS over the years & even let you take your collection to a PC or Laptop in a different location (just plug in a ride).)

3: Open the software & in the bottom right you will see some boxes flashing & a install update button - CLICK THIS! the software will close & reopen as the latest version, all the latest ride collection data files will be downloaded (to a new folder called Data thats created in the same directory as v_ride.x64.exe) This will take only a couple of seconds.

4: Go to settings & take the time to create an account, use the same email you used when registering. Set your bike weight & your weight correctly. Turn on hardware you use thats Ant+ (for example spin your cranks & wheel to fire up the speed & cadence sensor if you have one & when you see the boxes go green to the right click learn & then CLICK SAVE!!!

5: Go the Video tab & to the left navigate to the folder that holds your video files, the software will now checkout the names of the wmv files & inside a second or two create the correct data files for them which will now be listed below to the left. Simply click the ride file name & then to the right you will see the 1st frame from the video & its profile. you can move the scrollbars about & start & end where you want. This part of the software is about to change so you will shortly see the profiles of all the rides you own rather then their file names

6: Click ride, jump on the trainer & have some fun! If you hit the end of the ride it will just restart or loop back at the beginning again so you can with a little imagination create some cool hill repeats if you wanted or ride the Ventoux 6 times without stopping if you wanted :o ...

7: Important if you want data for Garmin connect, Strava, wko etc ! -When you 1st start the exe a data file is created in the same directory as the exe, inside this data file is a folder that will contain your tcx data files. When you stop click the thin "new ride" bar that will be spread the full width of the screen at the top, Just clicking that will generate a txc file that will be inside the Data/username/rides_export folder (located in the same root as the exe)

The data in the tcx includes GPS, cadence*, Speed, HR*, & power data (* = Cadence & HR if you have a Ant+ sensor for this) If you reach the end of the ride & it loops back to the start a line will be drawn in the GPS data from the end back to the start.
