How do we calculate speed

Speed is calculated by software as a function of input power (reported either by trainer, power meter or calculated by software) and other parameters (we call it virtual speed). This speed has no relation to speed that might be reported by you bike mounted speed sensor/garmin receiver/etc for example. It shows how fast you will be going in real life under particular conditions.
